I'm in a similar boat with CS2! Started playing a few weeks ago after years away from the original CS. One thing that helped me get more invested was upgrading my inventory with some nicer skins. Instead of gambling on cases, I used https://dmarket.com/trade-csgo-skins to trade some of my old CS skins for ones I actually wanted. It's pretty satisfying to have weapons that look good while you're playing, even when you're still learning the game.
