The people of the village of Lahic are an ethnic group, descended from the ancient peoples of Albania and Persia.

They speak something called the Tat language. Their forefathers come from the ancient Caucasian Albanian and Persian peoples. .

Even today the villagers are divided into three categories, based on their craftsmanship: Baadvan, Azavarro and Araghird.

Baadvan: known for their high-quality metalwork. Azavarro: Known for creating woven textiles and carpets. Araghird: Producers of leather goods and other handicrafts.

Each of these groups have their own village square, mosque, hammam and graveyard.
