Qurator's Photo Quest : Growing Wild. The Polly Joke Poppies
Here is my submission for the #Qurator Photo Quest – Growing Wild
Standing on the headland between Crantock Beach and Polly Joke Cove, on the rugged Atlantic Coast of Cornwall, UK is a field.
Welcome to the Polly Joke Poppies.
The poppy fields are important for the local wildlife, attracting bees and other vital pollinators crucial for the biodiversity of the locality and micro environment
Poppies are short lived, so for just a few weeks every year, spring on the cusp of summer, people travel from miles around to see them in all their glory.
The fields are maintained by the National Trust, (A conservation charity set up in the UK in 1895 whose aim is to preserve and protect historic places and green spaces for folk to visit and enjoy).
Unlike many many NT properties this one is free to enter and admire, the only caveat being you are not allowed to walk through this magnificent natural attraction. Stick to the designated foot paths.
Visiting early Tuesday evening it was thankfully bereft of the city dwelling tourist. No one photo bombing me. No snarled up traffic, as the field can only be accessed down a single track lane with a few passing places.
If you are ever in the area on a warm June evening stick it on your must see list and enjoy nature at it's best the blood red poppies and the setting sun over the Atlantic Ocean.
Perfect time to visit.
Beautiful… even if it is for a few weeks.
I like the poppy field with the rocks and ocean in the background. Such a contrast.
Enjoy your Saturday.

Cheers @stresskiller , thanks for the positive vibes, a bit like visiting the amazing bulb fields in The Netherlands I did a few years back. nature at its best
yeah the Dutch bulb fields are one of a kind indeed but these poppies are natural eand those bulbs are cultivated .
It's cool to see poppie 'pop up' here and there. They stand out nicely in the green.
But I habe never seen such a large field of poppies before! Cool shots!
Cheers @friendlymoose , it was a lovely wander a riot of colour.
Gorgeous photos - amazing contrast of colours. It reminds me of my childhood - poppy day - with the plastic flowers but the real thing is of course a lot more grogeous. It also reminds me of zigsaw puzzle that I never tire of completing.
I see poppies here but nothing like this. It is great that the site is protected.
Really loving the photos - especially the first and last one.
Cheers @momogrow I too am glad I visited, the best riot of colour since I visited your wonderful bulb fields and Keukenhof a few years back. I think a jogsaw that complicated would see me pulling my hair out in frustration LOL
If I had the opportunity to see this live, I think I would cry with happiness.
A wonderous sight indeed, cheers
