Palmse Manor. Estonia. Reflections #SMARP 253

Situated in Lahemaa National park, Palmse Manor is a restored baroque mansion and open-air museum.

The complex Consists of gardens, and buildings dating back to the 18th century. The finest building being the two-story Baroque manor, which was the home of the Baltic German von der Pahlen family.

Well none of the buildings were open today, a cold April morning, so it was a stroll through the "French Garden". Where one can it is alleged, enjoy a "romantic boat ride on the pond". No you can't as the pond was bereft of any vehicles suitable for some discrete shenanigans; is that not the normal term for a romantic soiree?

It is said that one of the most striking buildings of the complex is the greenhouse housing a variety of plants, exotic birds and fish. NO YOU CAN'T it was closed, no romantic shenanigans in the greenhouse, but at least it would have been warmer!

Also a blacksmith's forge where you can see the work of a blacksmith CLOSED.

Or how about the onsite brewery to sample the beer, yup you got it CLOSED.

So here are some reflections.

That chilly April walk feels less like a missed moment and more like an intimate one, where the atmosphere and the photography do the talking. Which I absolutely love!

The beauty of these houses is twice as rich in your photos. So beautiful! Especially the brewery and the green house 😊
