On track in Bangladesh.
Early start on Khulna station 05;45 departure for a 5hr 30min journey to Rajshahi, packed breakfast prepared by the hotel found its way into the first rubbish bin I could find. Couple of cuos of sweet strong coffee and a mars bar from the kiosk. That'll do.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the station was a total contrast to other sub-continent stations I have travelled through over the years. No one flat out sleeping, possessions everywhere, neither street urchins nor beggars doing their best to separate you from your money.
In the distance a strong lamp pierces the gloomy mist, the arrival of our steel horse is imminent.
Well beggars can't be choosers.
The chairs were comfy, easy to fall asleep in, 5 hrs soon flew by
With all that sleep, not much people snapping, but here is Mr Grumpy.

If only we had trains running, prefer the old coaches with no air conditioning. Neat and tidy as you mentioned for a region where trains are preferred mode of transport.
Nice photography!

Cheers Joan, do you not have a decent rail network?
We had an exceptional system, prior ANC coming into power. Now cable theft, rail lines stolen, stations totally vandalized.
A video from 2001, only gone backwards since then. Only private sections run for entertainment. A couple of trains back on the tracks up between Johannesburg and Pretoria, the rest I would call failed....
seems like the ANC completely destroyed such a powerful country....in the so called name of progress
Did similar in Rhodesia, no progress here simply lies, corruption and greed, then blame it all on the past Apartheid/Colonialism, easy scapegoat!
When really it was the Communist ANC
Yup they hang onto that handbook, it doesn't work, but you know the comrades stick to it like glue.
LOl, yup!
