"I don't like cricket. oh no."
Sang 10cc in 1978. "Dreadlock Holiday" for some unknown reason made it to No1 in the UK singles chart.

But I can relate to the lyrics, cricket is the most boring game ever, seriously fucking boring, how can a game that lasts for 5 x 6 hr days still end up a draw!!

Wandering around a former test cricket ground in St. Johns. Antigua for an hour was far more exciting.
Welcome to the Antigua Recreation Ground
C'mon, let's mooch

Antigua Recreation Ground was the national stadium of Antigua and Barbuda. It was used by both the West Indies cricket team and Antigua and Barbuda national football team. The last test match here was in February 2009.
The old grandstands looked in good condition from afar

The ground has been nicknamed "Carnival City" as it continues to be a centre point for the community to stage the annual Antigua and Barbuda Carnival, as well as hosting concerts and entertainment events.

Do you go there to prey or buy fucking sausages?

I guess the food wasn't all it cracked up to be

In 2024, it was announced that there was to be a multi-million-pound investment to restore the ground. For use once again as a cricketing venue
and not one piece of drug paraphernalia, was found nor the expected spunking cock and balls scrawled on the walls.

Apparently it took 18 men to operate the scoreboard
With clues where to stick the numbers

and here is that dreadful song I mentioned
To think this band also released an all time classic "I'm not in love"

Wow, what a revelation! I've always thought the song said "I don't like reggae ... I love it." That would make sense, since the rhythm is sort of reggae-ish. Not sure what it has to do with cricket though.
Yo, actually they do say that at some point in the shitty song LOL
True. And Jamaica. That one I didn't know, I just looked up the lyrics.
It doesn’t seem completely abandoned, the lawn is fairly well kept… I’m glad you didn’t come across those ugly things on the walls. 😃
I think they use it for festivals and stuff these days. No fear LOL
You're not a fan of 10cc.. they were great in that decade.. what wrong with you? I reckon you're a closet Brotherhood of Man fan.

"cricket is the most boring game ever"
............ you can't be serious!! :)
It is sad to see the state of that stadium, it was never good by the way. It was named after a great! Sir Vivian Richards, one of my idols. Not just mine, many from my generation. So it had the potential to be a shrine! But alas it didn't...

Viv is from there originally.
So is Ambrose

These are two most iconic and formidable players from two different generations!
You are lucky to visit that stadium, I wish I will someday!
Nice back info, cheers @azircon , still not convinced that I wouldn't doze off! A chance find on a wander around, thanks for walking with me.
