Diddly Squat.

Jeremy Clarkson is a bit of a marmite kind of bloke love him or hate him, he is a journalist, broadcaster, presenter of Top Gear, and now has just finished his 4th Amazon series "Clarkson's Farm." Loved all the series, not only for his wit and a genuine cast of believable characters but also for the display of pathetic pettiness of the small town sheriffs of the local councils and the hoops farmers have to jump through to comply with loony eco zealot legislation.

In 2021, he invested in brewing, using barley gron on his farm, quaintly called "Diddly Squat". On the back of the series and obvious advertising the beer is now widely available across the UK. So I thought I would try it, see what all the hoo haa was about.

Especialy even more so, after the nanny state banned the broadcasting of his very musical and comical advert.

The label promises us.

The original Hawkstone Lager. Bold, yet balanced, with a smooth body and top notes of light citrus complemented by a subtle, crisp bitterness and malty backbone. Setting the standard for a Premium British Lager.

Thing is they only come in silly little half pint bottles, so you need two to fill a glass properly. The bottle colour and font suggest a premium lager; as does the price, working out at £5.38p for a pint it is twice the price of other and in my opinion better lagers, Staropramen Premium lager for instance works out at £2.75p a pint, and that is nicer on the palate.

It would be rude not to taste it, and I feel it is too citrusy for my liking, and the head soon disappears. All in all it is not as Jeremy suggests a "fucking good lager"

Insane. Though I guess the premium labelling. Maybe also throwing out the argument of it costing about the same as a pint in a pub as well. Can't say I'm surprised at the overall quality not being as good as he claims.

I won't ever never paid that for a beer 🍺, I think it's also expensive for UK citizens, but I should admit that the package it's very nice.
