#cityscapes Dhaka, walking again. My submission for this weeks contest.
So having said goodbye to my travelling companions, I had an extra day at leisure to do nothing in particular. It was good to be back in the metropolis. two hours out then two hours back should satisfy my wandering needs.
Today I was heading in a direction mainly northerly, that was the plan, but the lens must be obeyed, the lens must be followed. Let us go see some things. Fuck knows where I am headed.
The Colonel's latest delivery. TBH I much prefer Nando's.
Like a Chinese take away being next to a vets surgery, who knows what the ingredients are or where they come from. I always remember the TV adds for "pepperami"...."it's a bit of an animal, yes but which fucking bit? I stopped eating them.
Didn't expect to see a full on engine change going on at the side of the road, no one batted an eyelid, carefully stepping over the stripped down bits
Movie posters works of art in their own right, Bangla Cinema, though nowhere near as well known or as big a money spinner as Bollywood, is in recent years seeing a renascence, supported by hefty financial govt support.
The underpasses a hive of activity, after awhile gave way to more colourful concrete
Probably corporate art but still I appreciated it for what it is
I found myself standing on the quaintly named Bangla Motor Foot Over Bridge, staring down on the carnage below, the sweet smell of exghuast fumes wafting up in the air, the sounds of motors idling and a cacophony of horns being pressed, rather pointlessly. No one is going anywhere, anytime soon welcome to gridlock city.
This stretch is known as the MRT Line 6, opened in stages from 2022, a light electric train system "elevated above the existing roads to allow traffic flow below."
I refer my learned friend to my previous comment and move swiftly on
The whole chaotic project for the city will not be complete at best estimates until the 30's
Good luck with that then.
The SAARC fountain near my journeys end
Happy to pose, the legislation in Bangladesh makes it very difficult to employ armed private security, not many of the city's banks have licensed guards but this bank, maybe like many others in Dhaka, bend the rules and pick loopholes to suit there needs.
