How can I put words together to explain what my eyes are showing me?
Amsterdam in all it's glory, shameless in its passion for being left field.
If this was the UK the small town sheriffs in the guildhall would be slapping all sorts of notices on the guys who put this together, citing elf n safety, public nuisance, blocking the highway et al. Boring fuckers.
The bin men would be there hoofing it into the back of the bin lorry quicker than you can say "art for art's sake"
Unless of course it was put together by "artists" (term used loosely) such as Tracey Emin or Damien Hirst, then the luvvies would be fawning over it and spunking in their soup as they gush on and on and on

That street art is a great find. Wonderful that it is not yet removed. Things are cleaned up fast here as well - people like order. Someone saw the true value in this street art.
There are so many stories being told there. It is definitely not random.

I've been to Amsterdam a few times and it can be quirky. I'm not sure I saw that particular installation, but I like to see something different. We stayed at the house of an artist who had some nice pieces, but they were inside. The Dutch seem pretty laid back generally.
This was away from the city centre, which I found to be depressing and dirty. Back in the day I was a regular business traveller to The Netherlands and always enjoyed Amsterdam. It has changed and not for the better.
The centre is so full of tourists, but I expect there are lots of nice areas. I just found it a good place to get around on foot. I've not tried cycling there.

Street gardens artistically done with real living plants, yup! Plastic heads, dolls and shoes perhaps a prank to put people off of walking in the area?
