Prompt: “Inner Voices”

We all carry voices within—whispers of doubt, echoes of encouragement, shadows of the past, or sparks of truth we try to ignore. For this prompt, step into the inner dialogue that shapes your choices, fears, and self-understanding.

• What do your inner voices sound like? Are they kind, cruel, chaotic, wise, childlike, familiar? Do they argue? Do they guide?
• Where do they come from? A parent’s advice? A past version of yourself? Society’s expectations? Your own quiet intuition?
• When are they the loudest? In moments of crisis, love, ambition, guilt, growth?
• Do you listen or resist? Explore a moment where the inner voice influenced your path—or where you had to silence it to move forward.

Bonus challenge: Let the poem shift perspectives between voices—make the reader hear the internal tug-of-war.
