July Challenge 3
Hello Hivers! It's another beautiful week! Before we dive into this week's topic, I'll like to say a big thank you to all our community members, especially the partakers in our weekly challenges, y'all are the best!
Now let's dive into this week's challenge!
Prompt: “The Mask I Chose”
Image generated using AI
We all wear masks; some to protect, some to perform, some to survive. For this prompt, explore the idea of persona: the version of yourself you show the world… or the one you hide behind.
Who are you when others are watching? What do you emphasize, soften, or suppress?
Where did this persona come from? Was it built out of necessity, fear, ambition, or love?
What’s the difference between the mask and the real you? Or is the mask more you than you admit?
What happens when the mask slips, or when someone sees through it?
Bonus challenge: Let your poem shift in voice or tone halfway through, showing both the persona and the truth underneath it.
Peel back the layers with your words. Explore the tension between appearance and essence, between who you are, who you pretend to be, and who you want to become.
Drop your entry in the comment section. Happy writing!
Hiya this is my response to your prompt. The very idea of mask wearing just took me back to the Covid era. https://hive.blog/hive-161465/@saltycat/the-masked-paradox
