Hello wonderful people of hive! Another exciting week is upon us. Thanks to all our participants from the previous week's prompt. Lets dive into this week's!
Prompt: “The Joke”

Sometimes a joke is just a joke; but sometimes, it’s everything beneath it: truth, pain, power, or deflection. For this prompt, explore the layered meaning of a joke. One told, overheard, or remembered.
- Who told it and why? Was it meant to lighten the mood, hide the truth, wound, or win affection?
- What was the punchline? Was it funny, cruel, revealing? Did it land? or fall flat?
- How did it feel? Were you laughing? Or pretending to?
- What was hidden behind it? An emotion unspoken? A reality no one wanted to face?
Bonus challenge: Write the entire piece without directly stating whether the joke was funny or not. Let the reader decide based on how it made you (or the subject) feel.
Let humor meet honesty. Let the poem crack a smile and reveal something raw just beneath the surface.
