I heard from my son who is now in Canada that homelessness is increasing due to rising housing rents, economic challenges and job insecurity. So sad to see some people living on the streets. I hope they will be given shelter.

Yeah the housing market has exploded and rent is very expensive these days which definitely contributes. There are shelters in the city and housing programs but many are full and they often have long wait lists.
Oh! I'm sad to hear this. Canada's population has been rising due to immigrants. They address labor shortages and target economic growth. So this surged demand for housing has pushed prices higher, making affordability a serious issue.
Yeah, I think there are a lot of factors that have increased the price of home including the ones that you mentioned.
