Grateful for Schoolwork!

Today I was able to spend some time with my little ones, going through their math and reading. Most of the teaching is done by our resident teacher (namely "mom"), but daddy picks up some responsibility on occasion to help things along.

Today I did math with my 3rd oldest, who is learning about rounding to the 100th place and the difference between a "line" and a "line segment'.

Once I explained it to her, she seemed to "get it". When I set her off to do them by herself, she did great!

Do you remember learning about rounding for the first time? Line segments?

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.

I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Who knows what schools teach now, I'm happy never knowing, so long as my children are learning it. !BBH

You and the kids may be thankful, but having achieved a doctorate and having to deal with continuing education classes and hours requirements, not so much! lol

I learned something new about you today @thebighig or should I call you Dr. thebighig. Our children's continuing education and hours requirements are not currently appreciated, considering that we school over the summer and they look longingly out the window on those warm summer days. The up-side is they are on-track to have completed their GED level education by age 14. Doesn't meant much to them now, but it's something they will appreciate when they're older.

Med school here they come! I actually wouldn't encourage kids to go into medicine these days, the system is a mess and getting worse. That's awesome, getting a GED by 14 and start with online college courses when they're ready!

We have no plans to send them away to school, but online classes are always an option. Currently my children aiming at forming a business as a priority and we're already starting something now to get them started. !BBH

Smart, business is where the money is the future. Also engineering. Did you know that more billionaires have a degree in engineering than any other degrees? Not that I would wish being a billionaire on anyone, the stress involved would consume your life!

I wouldn't want the stress of massive wealth on any of my children, but even more I wouldn't want the stress of poverty on them. Money can cause great distress, but if managed well, it can also be a tool to relieve great distress.

I have two second cousins who are billionaires inherited form their father. We used to be friends and talk but the minute they got the money they cut off all family. Money does funny things, but poverty is even worse I agree. Education is very important and teach them that before they pay any bills to first pay themselves and put into savings.

I love that you teach your kids at home, and they look like they're having fun in the process, which is excellent because learning is actually supposed to be fun! I have to say that without looking it up, I don't know what lines or line segments are...lol! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

learning is actually supposed to be fun!

YES!!!!! It is fun! The difficulty for my children is the "why" question. It's hard sometimes to explain WHY they must learn. The typical adult never uses lines or line segments in every-day life, so it's a legitimate question "Why bother learning this stuff?" When I was young and thought of math as a PUZZLE to solve, it became a lot more fun for me. The "why" for me became "Because it's fun, that's why!" !BBH

Exactly, and yes, I understand. Some learning does not outwardly seem like it would be fun, so getting kids motivated to actually want to learn it can indeed be challenging. That's exactly how I made math fun, too, to think of it like a logical 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I am grateful for schoolwork, the children sometimes cry over schoolwork. They'll understand someday and thank us, I'm sure. !BBH

"Lines" and "line segments" remind me of my Math mini-contests here on Hive through #DBuzz, such as this one. 😎🤓 !HOPE !INDEED !HUG !DIY

Your math mini-contests are fun. Should do some more! I reviewed them and the odds of me actually answering correctly are aprox. 2/7 !BBH

That "2 out of 7" correct-to-incorrect ratio is probably the case when there the Math problem has a multiple-choice answer with 1 correct choice and 3 incorrect choices. 🤯🤣 !WEIRD !INDEED !HUG !DIY
