Exercise; An Important Health Promotion Tool

Physical activity is a very important prevention strategy for a whole lot of health conditions. As we all know, prevention is better than cure especially when it comes to matters of health.

Obesity and sedentary lifestyle predisposes humans to a lot of diseases like hypertension, diabetes, stroke, fatty liver, arthritis to name a few.

That is to say that just by staying within a healthy body weight or doing regular exercises, one can prevent a lot of medical conditions.

Sadly a lot of people are ignorant of this or just unwilling or lazy to do something to get in shape. While some still believe that obesity is a sign of eating healthy or being wealthy. Which is completely false.

Physical activity which involves a lot of events like running, dancing, brisk walking, playing football, volleyball, basketball etc can be a fun event and not just a boring ritual to loose weight or maintain a healthy weight.

It is important to engage in activities which are not just physically demanding but also fun to a person. By so doing, it doesn't feel like a punishment that one would discard at any given chance. Rather it becomes an activity which the individual looks forward to on a daily basis and would not like to miss.
Personally I love volleyball and it is the physical activity I always look forward to which helps me stay active.

I am not overweight or obese and as such I engage in sports and exercise for the sole purpose of keeping fit and not to shed some kilograms yet I enjoy various other benefits from the exercises.

Exercise boosts mood and appearance in addition to improving blood circulation.

Exercise also improves heart health by keeping the heart rate within normal range and reducing the risk of both hypertension and atherosclerosis.

While physical activity is beautiful, it is equally important to only engage in activities that one can withstand and not to overlabour the heart or muscles which is in itself potentially dangerous.

Consistency is more important than intensity. That's why people who do little amounts of exercise everyday achieve overall better outcomes than those who do so much at wide intervals.

It's important to bear this in mind because regardless of the motivation for exercise, we tend to feel disappointed when we don't see results after a few days when in fact, it's impossible to see results until a few weeks of consistency has passed.

I agree with you - it's important to focus on the fun part of the activity or we won't be consistent in it. What interests us is what we need to do. Good to read your writing.

Exactly, especially because fitness is not a one time thing and requires consistency which would be difficult if one doesn't enjoy the activity.
Thank you.

I Love how you emphasize choosing enjoyable activities (volleyball goals! 🏐) over rigid routines—consistency truly beats intensity. Your focus on long-term health gains, heart benefits, and mood boosts is spot-on. Here’s to making fitness a joyful, lifelong habit, not just a quick fix. Keep inspiring others to find their fun in exercise! 🌟

It could get boring and tiresome and so enjoyable activities makes it easier to continue. I will keep try.

This is so true. Many people don’t realize how important exercise is for staying healthy. It’s not just about losing weight but also about feeling good and preventing sickness. I like how you said exercise should be fun—doing something you enjoy makes it easier to stay consistent.

Indeed, the goal is to derive joy and not to see it as a punishment. Thanks for stopping by.
