This is why I avoid big exchanges but there is a danger to doing that as well. There was an exchange that dealt with Hive and HBD that just went dark one day and people lost all they had in there. While this didn't affect me very harshly, there were other users on this platform that lost a lot. But as you say, "not your keys, not your coins" and now because of that hard lesson that thankfully didn't affect me a great deal, I deal exclusively with self-proprietary wallets. I feel like all of those are essentially the same but if you have one to suggest that you really like / believe in, I would like to know about it.
