Why Did The House of Prayer in Jerusalem Become A Den of Thieves? Part 1 | MCGI Topic Review
The historical layers behind the declaration of Jesus which says that my heart shall be called the house of prayer, but ye have made it then of thieves.
This is quoted from the book of Matthew 21:13. And also in the book of Isaiah 56-7 where God made it proclaim that the house as the place of prayer for all people and Jeremiah 7 vs 11 confirms this also which warns us of this declaration.
Brother Eli making emphasis of this says that the word of Christ was was aligned to the Father's commandments and the temple in Jerusalem was meant for worship but as time goes on it was corrupted and it was turned into a marketplace where people made profits, selling doves, selling lamps, selling all kinds of commodity for profits instead of maintaining it as a place of worship.
This teaching reminded us that God says whether it is viewed as a physical temple or a community of believers must remain sacred and holy and must not be used for worldly motives. And Brother Eli also gave us another important historical notes about spirituality.
So as we reflect on this our modern place of worship, seeing it as a true place of prayer instead of just a place where we carry out illegal activities, we are called as believers to be vigilant to preserve our place of worship with purity and faith.
