The Little Thing That Mean The Whole World To Me
Do you know that we all have that small little item that holds a special place in our hearts? It might not be a big thing or something too special or it might not be a thing that is so expensive, but to us, these things are priceless.
That treasure for me is my diary, one of my favorite diaries that has been in my deskd rawer for a very long time. Although it is old, the pages stick to it. It's colored in yellow and it's filled with handwritings that I could never remember if I was the one that wrote it. To everyone else, it's just an ordinary notebook, but for me, that diary is a capsule of dreams and memories and moments that have shaped me to who I am today.
That diary was a gift. It was a gift given to me by my grandmother who has passed away. She gave it to me when I was at the age 13. I can still remember that she gave it to me during a summer that I spent at her house. At that time, I was just a small girl playing around. I never knew what the diary actually meant, where I was going. So I never took it seriously. Then I was still shy and unsure of myself.
I felt like I didn't quite know where to fit in in life. And Grandma, she was always hardworking and she always smiled at me and gave me this important small notebook that I finally made my diary and said, write your heart into this, my daughter.
Your thoughts are worth keeping. That summer, I filled the pages of my diary with so many stories about myself. Although I was young, but I was still writing things I wanted to achieve. The fears that I faced as a little kid. What I want about the future. My dreams. My fantasies.
I must say, it became my safe haven. A place where I could just write things that come from my heart without feeling judged. What makes this diary so special isn't just about the memories that you have, but what it has represented over time.
This is the first time I've realized that my voice also matters. Even after years of writing those words, just years back and I still feel the value today. My grandmother encouraged me all the time. She loved me all the time. Sometimes when she reads my diary she keeps encouraging me to keep chasing my dream that one day I will be what I am supposed to be. Even now I am still feeling overwhelmed by her dismiss.
Anytime I flip through those pages I am comforted in those words. I still remember the words she said to me those years. I must say the diary also reminds me of my grandmother also because she was the one that gave me the gift. And this also reminds me of where I started from. Do you know that there is a beauty in treasuring those little things that you think doesn't matter to others, but really matters to you.
You don't need to impress anyone with the gift. It just holds value to only you and you alone. Even though it's a one-art book or a special gift, something like a watch or a faded photo or any object that just holds value to you.
For me it was my diary but I don't know for you. What is that small thing that has made you to stay connected, to keep dreaming and to honor people? Like my grandmother who believed in me when I was still young and never thought of believing in myself. For me it was just a small thing. It's a small world.
So tell me what is your treasure? What is that one item that you look ordinary to others but feels so special to you?
