Surviving The Flood- A Story Of Resilience
This year has been very wild with the news of natural disasters flying around. I want to share my experience with the flood that hit My town.
Just a few months ago when it rained heavily. It was like something far out of a movie. All of a sudden streets were turning to rivers, cars were just floating, and homes were covered with water. I will never forget the sound of those heave rain pouring on my roof. It was as if it wanted to break into my home.
At first we didn't see it. We didn't see it coming. Although from the weather forecast we were warned that it will rain heavily that day, but no one was expecting that so much damper of water.
What was my reaction? At first I panicked. I looked out my window, watching the water creep closer, getting closer and closer, rising. We were going to the door level of our home. My heart was racing. But then during that moment something kicked in in my mind. Maybe just an instance. I decided I started grabbing the essentials. I started taking my important belongings, like my documents, my clothes, my food and putting them and covering them well.
I must say the aftermath of this heavy flooding and rain was very tough and unbearable. I would say the ground floor of my house was a mess although I lost some furniture which were in bad condition after the flood but I was lucky to also be safe.
Trying to cope with this moment wasn't just easy but with the support of the community members and neighbours around it was really helpful. We had to share food, stories, encouragement and even made jokes of the moment and laughed through the chaos. I must say those sense of community kept us going that period. I would say that this is the end of this.
Those that want to prevent huge losses like this preparation should be the key. If you are in an area that is prone to flood and you keep the mind head still ready see flash light put things in order. Sometimes sand baths can help you block water and good drainage also. Breeding drainage in communities can help, and knowing how to evacuate your belongings easily can also be of help.
If I would have known that that forecast about the heavy rain falling would be that serious, I would have moved things up there very sooner. So what is Avaya's tip? Is to just stay calm and just prioritize yourself. You have to grab what you need, documents or anything of the kind, and get to the diagram. You don't have to underestimate rising water, it's just faster, and you can come and take over your home faster than you think.
So after the flood, you have to take those photos, and maybe you can get insurance, or you can lean on the committee and government support. But nevertheless, life goes on, and so we have to also move forward and look for what might happen in the future.
One important lesson that the flood taught me was resilience, in that we can not just control nature, but we can really control how we respond to it. So if you are facing something that is very similar, just know that you are not alone.

A good drainage system to help take out excess water is the best way to prevent and stop flooding.
These days we just have to be planned and ready because anything is possible in the period.. The flood i noticed yesterday in my location was much.. A good drainage system will be of great in this situation.... So sorry for the situation..
A friend shared with me recently how they virtually lost everything to flood. Last year it was devastating. We pray for God's help this year
