When Wild Beauty Becomes Home Pets

When I was still very young, the only place where I usually saw all these wild animals was in those primary school books that I used back then and from all these shows on our TV at home. There was nothing like a zoo then and the only OAU (Obafemi Awolowo University) back then did not have all these wild animals until recently. So when I saw this prompt topic and when some talk about adopting wild animals like snakes, lions and some of these animals as pets, my mind goes wild in confusion because on a norms, it is very dangerous to keep these animals as pets.

Even though I have not seen some of these animals with my physical eyes, but in some documentaries that I have watched, I have seen some rich Asian guys keeping some of these wild animals as pets which usually gives me some goosebumps but I know I can not move close to those animals if I see them.

From my opinion here, I agree that money can buy some things but to be honest, money can never buy instinct for those animals because no matter how we keep them as pets, wild animals will forever be wild animals, and one day, they will bring out their true colors because these animals, no matter how we show them love or care for them, they will never understand those things, and one day, it might end up in tragedy.

I can remember scrolling through my TikTok feed on an afternoon like that, and I saw this post that led me to another post where a lady was sharing a story of how a chimpanzee her friend kept as a pet beat her up, deformed her face, and some parts of her body. Now imagine my neighbour having a wild animal as a pet, and one evening I entered his compound, now imagine the danger that I could be faced with, even though the only of those particular wild animals believe that he can tame them.

I agree that some zoos are not taking proper care of these animals because the last time I went to the zoo to see some of these animals, I saw how lean the lion was but that aside, these animals were called wild for a reason and it is so dangerous to bring them home as pets. And I also believe that instead of putting all these animals in the zoo to surface, they can simply be left alone in the wild life where they captured them from.

We as humans should always understand that there is a big difference between what we can keep as pets and what we call wild animals, we should just respect them and let them be where God created them to be. And I think that we need wisdom in doing some things, and I will say that it is very risky to call wild animals as pets for your safety and for my safety.
