This Holiday-A Journey for my Soul

When we hear the word holiday, It means different things to different people. For some, it's a time to travel, for others it is a time to rest and for some, it is a time to catch-up with things that they are lagging behind while for others, it a time to reflect on themselves, reconnect and improve.

The next and upcoming holiday won't just be a time off for myself, or an escape. It will be a time to get that adequate rest, think about my life more, reconnect with people that I have missed, time to breathe and find my gentle self again.

After continuous weeks of never-ending pushing through everyday duty work and the daily madness that we I face here in Nigeria, I have come to a final conclusion that something simple but efficient is the holiday rear that I need. The rear is not just only meant for my physical body, but for my spirit, soul and mind too.

So, looking at this forthcoming holiday, I have been planning several things that would work for me in my head. Something to cool me down. No going to the mega town or busy places, no hosting of any kind of parties. Just me by myself. I might just decide to visit one of the coastal towns in the southern part of Nigeria–the Maldives and Santorini of Nigeria. Or somewhere where the birds will be singing, watching the sun rise and sunset with the calm movement of the sea and enjoy the cool breeze of nature.

If I decide to go to the coastal town, I might go with a close friend who knows the value and understand what calm comes when hearing the birds sings, watching the sunrise and sunset, having a deep conversation and understand what deep silence is without sharing all these experiences on the social media. We will definitely enjoy a lot of seafoods, have enough time to enjoy nature, swim and properly journal. It is all about presence. No plans to impress —no pressure.

This forthcoming holiday is not about me enjoying luxury, spending money. It is all about my peace of mind, soul and spirit.
I plan to spend minimum of one to two weeks. No rushing of things because I want to enjoy it to the fullest and to be a memorable one. After the holiday, I want to get back feeling much lighter, stress free, focused and more connected to my loved ones and most expecially, myself.

In a world that will keep on revolving, this forth coming holiday is my saving grace from a lot of distractions and stress. It will be a one to two weeks journey for my soul.

My fellow readers, how are you planning to spend your holiday? Is it with your family or yo have another plan?

Bzzzrrr!
