If I Were President for a Day: A Very Necessary Madness

Let's say I emerged as the president of my country for just sla day, I will definitely make it count and properly break some few rules but I will make sure I make it count and the people will never regret it. I will not exhitate to adjust the budget to the level of the world leaders. Definitely, not today. Today is only for the emotional drained, exhausted, overworked and some people in the traffic jam, screaming inside the yellow bus, market and office people.

My first act of business is by giving an executive order that even the senate will not reject. Every first seven days of every month will be considered as a nationwide public holiday. Not to honour anyone but ourselves. You might probably be wondering that a whole week? Yes, a whole seven days, Monday to Saturday. You see, we are not machine even machines always rest. We as humans needs to slow down most especially in an environment where having to rest to hard earned like a trophy and overworking is worn like a badge of honour. For these seven days, let the people have it to themselves, let them rest, sleep, eat, have a reflection of life, dance and the married people should have one or two something with themselves... you get. When the minds of the people is deeply broken, how can you build a great nation?

Next executive order, even though the economists might regards to it as madness, but I would print so much money and make it circulate because tell me, a very hard working lady who is always carrying silently at the end of each month just because she is thinking of either to use her salary to go to work or buy food stuff. On this day, all the citizens even the babies will be counting money with a small note attached on it, "it is not much but it would get you things you need." Inflation can complain tomorrow.

There will be total reform towards marriage. All marriages will be done free. There will not be anything like paying of bride or groom price again, no infinity family meetings, no dowry debates that would feel like you are trading a human being or selling the person out. Just two lovers, a signed certificate and a love vow. There should not be any form of tax attached to love. We should be able to marry in peace and happiness not in pieces.

This is very important too, I also issues decree against any leaders, Manager, HODs or boss in any workplace who decides to send any form of messages to his workers after working hours, such person will to report immediately to the Emotional Intelligence Rehabilitation Center. We should say no to workplace overload terrorism all in the name of key performance indicators.

And just to balance the equation for my people. Every Fridays, there will be free jollofrice for everyone because why not? Being happy can also come in form of naija jollof now.

Well, would this decrees make the economy wobbling! Maybe.
Will it bring joy, life and make my people breathe again just for a day? Definitely 😁
And is this not how leadership is meant to be?
