Beyond the Chalk and Board
I grew up among teachers, some who teach in the primary school, secondary school, and university, and most of them are always correcting me, putting me on the right path, because I guess they all saw me as their son. Most of these corrections that I received from them were not even in the classroom, some were outside.
But now, I discover that in our generation, things have changed, and only a few teachers still correct students like it was done back then because correcting students these days might result into unnecessary arguments between teachers and parents, and because of this, most teachers just mind their business because of fear of being recorded and put on the internet.
I have witnessed two situations like that where, during my secondary school days, a teacher corrected a student for coming late to school after the assembly had ended, and the next day, her mum followed her to school just to challenge the teacher and the school authority. And I also, when a fight broke out in one of the public schools in my environment, before we knew it, all the authorities in that school ran for their lives for protection which was not like that in the past.

And in my opinion, I think disciplines in our school should go beyond closing time and that guidance should go beyond our various school gates because when there is no proper guidance, it is our society that is going to suffer such guidance.
However, school teachers should be given the proper protection and respect that they deserve both from the students and each parent because without that, some students will continue to act out of manners just because their parents support them and no one corrects them.
Like I said earlier, I grew up among teachers, I have seen how some of them talk and how ready they are to impact the students, but without the full support of the parents and society, I think some of these students will continue to misbehave with no growth.
