The Rule That Feels Like a Joke

I just finished watching a four hours plus podcast where some people were discussing about the current and previous administration in my country which was really insightful especially the whole political part, and at the same time, when I get to listen or read some political news, just like some that I read on my X page yesterday, I was only shaking my head because when we talk about democracy and how some laws are being used, I am amazed a d surprised on how those laws were passed into bills and approved by our senate.

Just like I said that I read some political news on X, one of the sitting governors in one state like that defected to the current ruling party just yesterday, and it came to my senses that how can it be allowed that someone who was elected and is still serving be allowed to defect to another party and he is still allowed to hold his post without any sanction? I remember a few weeks ago when the current governor of my state had to leave his party to be join another party because another election will happen this year. Though many people did not complain, some who are politically concerned were like, How can he leave the party that took him in and join another party?. And to be honest, it was like what I ordered vs. what I got because if we are being honest here, why is it that it's only the governors, senators, and others that can do that? Why not the president elect? It shows that something is not right.

I totally understand that everyone has the right to association, yes. But what is the essence of this political campaign, manifestos, and promises when a politician can easily join a party he once talked against without any consequences? To me, it simply means that they don't value, appreciate, or attach importance to us. Already, there is a large increase in political apathy, so running from one party to another means you are not loyal; you are only fighting for what will benefit you, you are making those who trusted you lose interest, and people will not really attach importance to elections again. In my honest opinion.

Like they said, democracy is for the people and by the people, and that means that the laws that govern democracy should protect us and our wills. Just like this current administration, some rules are not fair enough, which has constituted disbelief in the current system, and that is why most of the things that the president says, the majority no longer believe.
