If Time Gave Me One Chance

Where I came from, we have a native saying that says we should not be faster than our time; wait patiently for that time to come. Yeah! That is something most people do believe in, but sometimes when I am in the corner of my room, just like how I'm seated there now, I sometimes do ask myself, what if I could see ahead of the present? What if I could see everything that would happen in the future because I really want to see where this country is going? Maybe our prayers for a better country and leaders eventually got answers, or it grew worse. I even want to see how good I will look with gray hair. But truth be told here, I think I would rather go back in time and correct some things from the past.

Not a big deal about changing anything, though, but just to go back in time to when I was still younger, most especially during my secondary school days when the pressure was much and when I was naive to a lot of things. I will love myself more, appreciate everything I do, and always tell myself to relax and do things one step at a time. I will tell myself to always put myself first and not find approval from anyone who doesn't want to stay around me. I will always love every version of myself that stresses over everything.

Like our native saying goes, I will not stress about seeing into the future because that is something I cannot control, so no rush because it will always wait for me, and that is why it is always best to correct the past to shape the future. Though I am mature now, and that is why I picture back to the past, because I now understand a lot of things better. Maybe at the end of the day, going to the past is not about changing events but about correcting it so I can have peace with it.

Just like I usually watch in those fictional movies where people can teleport to the past and future, if I have that superpower, I will not think twice before going to the past to embrace myself more, take things easy on myself, and forgive myself over and over again to face what is ahead of me with a clear and stronger mindset.
