Osijek – The Heart of Slavonia on the Banks of the Drava River
Good morning dear Friends, good day Photography Lovers🙌📸
From Umag, we cross the Adriatic Sea into Slavonia, the golden heart of my beautiful Croatia .... We are going to Osijek .... It was in July 2019, when my son and his team, by winning the water games in our city, won passage to the next round of the competition in Osijek. And they took me to cheer and take photos. We only had half an hour of free time before the start of the competition, because we were "stuck" on the highway, so these photos of Osijek were taken as quickly as possible.
So, let's go see little bit of Osijek
Along with the photos, a little about Osijek in general
Osijek is the fourth largest city in Croatia, located in the east of the country, in the fertile plain of our golden Slavonia. The city lies on the right bank of the Drava River, just a few kilometers from its confluence with the Danube.
Tvrđa – the historical heart of the city
One of the biggest attractions in Osijek is Tvrđa, a Baroque military fortress from the 18th century. This historic core of the city exudes the spirit of times gone by, with cobblestone streets, old buildings and the Holy Trinity Square. Today, Tvrđa is a vibrant place of culture and social life, with numerous cafes, galleries and museums.
We spent a very, very short time here before the competition
The symbol of modern Osijek is the pedestrian bridge that connects the two banks of the Drava River. Opened in 1981, this elegant white bridge has become a recognizable symbol of the city and a favorite place for walking, taking photos, and watching sunsets.
I'm very sorry that I didn't manage to get closer to the bridge and take a photo of it, it's very attractive and interesting, just like the one near my town, the suspension bridge in Martinska Ves Desna. The one in Osijek is bigger, much bigger, I would say.
- I took the photos with the Olympus E-M10 Mark III and later processed them in Photoshop.
This is all for Today, see you Tomorrow
