Memoirs of the Super Typhoon Yolanda 12 years ago Today

I never thought of losing friends when the super typhoon Haiyan devastated the Visayas region more than a decade ago, I prayed so hard that all of my loved ones family, relatives and friends were all safe and protected. But after days and weeks, I heard of bad news that those friends of mine who did not evacuate and lived nearby the shoreline were missing and nowhere to be found. It was so painful and unimaginable that their lives and houses were taken away.

The damages were great, the strength of the signal number 4 super typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan made this cargo ship moved to the land from the seawater. The horrors of the past was repeated when I saw familiar scenes of the devastated region in Visayas. It was terrible and horrifying, it brings back the nightmare that everyone felt during those times of uncertainty and now Visayans are suffering again and again the same fate that they already survived before.

Visayans are known as resilient people that despite the tragedies they experienced in this life they continued to rebuild their lives and think optimistic for the future. This is the day to remember the lives lost during those dreadful days and the lives lost this week all are precious, all are irreplaceable. Many lessons have been learned in the past and should be applied in the present. Preparedness is all that matters. It might be a physical preparation such as 72-hours kit, emergency bag or the spiritual preparation to meet the maker on the other side of the veil.

This monument reminds us both the survivors and the preppers to be prepared not just physically or temporally but most of all be prepared to meet the face of the creator of us all, the Most High. As they said "if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear" so prepare every needful thing for your body and spirit.

This brought back so many memories.. Yolanda was truly heartbreaking and many of us still carry the pain. But the resilience of the Visayan people is inspiring. Thank you for reminding us to always be prepared not just physically but spiritually too...

Even though 12 years have passed, I still remember how busy we were back then repacking relief goods for Tacloban. It was such a heartbreaking event, especially knowing how many lives were lost.

Thank you for sharing your time as a volunteer Sis.
It was unfortunate to some of my friends who did not expect the storm surge, others said there were many dead bodies floating below the San Juanico bridge during the aftermath of the super typhoon 🖤

No one can forget the Yolanda typhoon eventhough were too far but we've seen it through news from tv and online as well. That tragedy was so horrible especially to those affected.

There are 5 more letters in the alphabet, if people continue to live in the flood prone areas that is the risk they choose to live, it is better to live off grid.

Thank you so much for the concern 💖 Unfortunately, our country has it in alphabetical order of names starts from the beginning alphabet A for the local typhoon name to almost the end of the letter. After Super Typhoon Tino comes ST Uwan in 2013 it reached to letter Y for Yolanda/Haiyan international name

I could still remember that day. Though we did not experience it, our hearts are on the people who suffered and endured it all.

Yes, Sis. it was a tragic day and a day to remember that the most unexpected things come when we least expect it, the tsunami like storm surge caused thousands of fatalities including my friends.
