First time to hear a Saxophonist during a burial rite or wake
Last month a distant relative peacefully died in his sleep. Uncle was 70 years old and he died suddenly, one of his leg was amputated. During his wake, I was surprised to see a musician who played a saxophone. It is very rare to see a saxophonist on a funeral service so I took pictures and make this article.

It was nice to hear the sound of the saxophone played during the burial rite, it served as the background music during the final viewing and when my uncle was laid on his final resting place 6 feet below the ground burial lot.

The saxophonist was my uncle's brother-in-law, he is a professional musician based in Mainland China. He is also a virtuoso keyboardist.

He played 2 musical instruments so well. Music is his bread and butter. I was amazed that the soothing sound of saxophone gives the feeling of peace during this moments.

His daughter is also musically inclined, a professional vocalist also China based. I appreciate the initiative he made to set the mood during the wake and burial. He played the hymn "Nearer, My God to Thee" repeatedly and it sound comforting, this was also played in a famous movie Titanic when the musicians continued to play music until their last breathe.

Uncle was a good provider to his family, his children testified as well as his wife, his daughter-in-laws also shared the same thing when they were given the opportunity to talk during the final wake.
Photos are mine.
Condolences to the bereaved family..
Yeah its also my first time to hear it..glad that his brother was a talented saxophonist...the music add the solemnity of the rites..
