Throwback to cherished 1st birthday memories
Birthdays aren't just a milestone, celebrating them with fun pictures and going back to those pictures over the years makes us reflect on life and feel more grateful for how far we've come.
Today marks my niece's 4th birthday, she is the same age as my daughter, but older by a few months apart, we sang the happy birthday song for her before they all left for school to continue with the rest of the celebration, I couldn't help but go back in time, thankfully we have pictures to tell the story, a visual representation of our memory.
I smiled, with an overwhelming feeling of joy and appreciation inside of me, as these pictures looking so perfect, told many stories that were behind the preparation of this day.
It was my daughter's first birthday and to be frank I was lost for what to do because I had just experienced a huge financial setback in my business and was not sure if we would mark the day, even if I had this day planned for months before now. But as the world is, you need money to sort out most things.
Luckily for me, or should I say her birthday week borough the luck, I was offered a small sewing deal and my profits were just enough to make this day happy with little diys here and there, you can imagine my excitement, her cake was made by me and my sister, while her dress was made by me, we took the celebration to our local church, shared sweets and biscuits for the children and took lots of pictures.
My family was also available to take pictures with us, it was even more than I had imagined the day would be, seeing my daughter guide her cake for herself alone made us laugh out loud, it was her first time seeing something so colourful, big and edible, and when she had the first bite of her cake, she kept coming back for more.
It will be her 4th birthday in a few months, I'm grateful for a healthy and happy child, and the opportunity to create more fun memories with her, let's enjoy these throwback pics for now as we anticipate the big 4 and savor the moments that make life so special.
