It is not often we search for inventors of most of what we enjoy using today, even those that have been used and forgotten, in fact, most of the inventors we know today were mostly taught in our school apart from those taught, we never bothered to check others until curiosity or a prompt just like in today's #Aprilinleo has suggested we write on, Unknown Inventors

As a fashion enthusiast who pays attention to every fashionable piece of clothing, that provides comfort, style or better still a combination of both. one aspect of women's clothing that I've always been fascinated about and also had me pondering how it all started is the use of bra. Though one of the least talked about piece of clothing, we can't help but recognize the support it gives especially to the heavily endowed ladies, though I don't belong to this set of women, still we can't deny the fact that the bra gives us some sort of coverage and also add more detailed fitting to our clothing.

Well, do you know that the bra we wear today was first thought of by a female who felt the need for it, In those days (1913) women only wore corsets as inner clothing, and corsets as we know can be so uncomfortable, also makes some kind of outer clothing off limit, I guess she was the kind of free spirited woman that didn't want to be limited to the standards of that time, according to her, corset was more of a 'torture device' so she invented something more comfortable that could easily allow her wear other fashionable pieces of clothing she desired using two handkerchief and some strings providing her the needed support, and before you know, other women also adopted the use of brassier, and today, we've seen how bra has evolved in fashion and design, there is the sport bra, nursing bra, double padded, the popular victorian secrets lingerie etc

When next you put on your favourite bra, remember the name Mary Phelps Jacob and how her simple invention borne the modern bra we use today also providing a simple solution to a common problem, giving us liberation in the women's fashion.

Look around you today and search out how a favourite and very functional item you can't do without was invented, only then would you recognize the importance of these unsung heroes just like Mary helps who have shaped our world in meaningful ways.

The bra's evolution is just one of the many examples of inventions that have shaped our lives today.
As we celebrate the inventors and innovators who have shaped our world, let's not forget the unsung heroes like Mary Phelps Jacob. Her simple invention may have seemed insignificant at the time, but it has had a lasting impact on women's fashion and comfort.

Ohh the invention of the bra is such a lifesaver for women irrespective of how endowed they are. One can't help but notice the finishing details these bras add to various outfits for women... It's stupendous.
