Rediscovering the Joy of Self-Care

Sometimes I often wonder how I let the hustle and bustle nature of adult life make me forget how it is to relax and have certain fun, involving in some activities before, I never needed to schedule before having them in the past, all I needed to do was to think it, and impulsely I'm already basking in that fun with no worries contending with my mind.

Just last month my sisters went on a fun weekend getaway, and one of the activities they were involved in that I so yearn for and wished I had followed if not for my tight schedule at work was swimming, I can't remember the last time I dipped my legs into a pool talk more of going all in and swimming for hours without minding the passing time, feeling the weightlessness and liberation that comes from having a good swim, scrolling through the pictures they had shared to the family WhatsApp group,p made me miss the good old days, will I ever get the time to put away responsibilities of family and work life and relive that carefree youthful lifestyle again I thought to myself.

I know I'm not the only one in this stage of life, many of us have taken being responsible adults too seriously that we no longer take our satisfaction seriously, we are always sacrificing for others to have fun, especially mothers, others' satisfaction always comes first before us, and by the time it gets to our turn, we are too tired to even have the thought.

Do you know what is also important for us to do as adults, SELFCARE , yea, this involves taking care of your physical and mental health, and it also involves taking some hours, days, or weeks to reenergize and have some fun, I have been guilty of neglecting myself for too long, and I had to be intentional about putting myself first sometimes this year, yea it's a part of my 2025 resolution.

I would allow myself to be selfish sometimes, like my people would say, 'Life is too short, take time to enjoy', what is the essence of working all day, stressing all day without allowing myself to relax, unwind, and recharge at least once in a while, to prioritize my own needs and desires.

So yes, that sometimes would involve swimming for me, I had always loved water, and to make it more fun, it used to be me alone then, now I can involve my family, husband, and children, making sure they are protected of course, I would like to enjoy what swimming with my family feels like, first step would be finding a neat pool closer to us, or get recommendations from friends and family, and rediscover the joy and freedom that came with it,

Thinking about this is already making me burst into excitement, thanks to the #Marchinleo prompt, I have another to-do list added to the month of March. You can check out Leogrowth's thread and be inspired as well.

It's really painful that life has distracted us so much from doing the things we love. Hopefully we will find a balance with all the needs and engagement in order to do the things we love. Do I see myself ever swimming? I fear water too much 😄

Yeah, that's just life, but once in a while we should try not to be overwhelmed.

I guess it's time to face that fear of yours😅

We grow up having several responsibilities and we forget to enjoy life bbecauee we are faithful to each responsibilities.

One of the things I am looking forward to is swimming, it been a while: I know how well it makes me feel relaxed and forgetting all worries in the moment.
