Puffy Sleeves And Perfect Sleeves

A wonderful day to you all, dear creative friends on Hive.

I woke up feeling very happy today, because I knew I would be working on designing a pretty dress today, to even make it etter, the weather has remained cool and fresh all day, aligning with my mood, taking the scorching heat waves of the previous weeks, making it even more comfortable to sew away, and yes, I started and finished sewing this floral ankara dress with double puffy sleeves today.

This dress belongs to a new friend I just made this new year. Being a fashion designer has made it much easier for my introverted self to make friends easily, even though I usually spend most of my time indoors. She was referred to me by a mutual friend, and meeting her for the first time, our chemistry felt like we'd known each other for a long while.

  • Ankara fabric

  • Lining fabric

  • matching coloured thread

  • Zipper

So without further ado, let's get right into the making process.

Cutting and Sewing process

  • I started by cutting the upper side of the dress using a bustier pattern

  • I also cut out the back pattern

  • For the lower part of the dress, I used a straight skirt pattern

  • Then I joined the patterns together, and also turned them using their lining pattern

  • Continuing, I joined the upper to the lower side of the dress

  • and also joined the upper side of the back pattern to the lower side.

  • For the sleeves, I cut out a puffy sleeve pattern, then sewed an elastic around the middle and hem area

  • Also sewed a zipper to the back area.

  • finally, I sewed the sleeves around both armhole , and that completes the making process of the dress.

She loves her new dress as it fits perfectly. I hope you also like the outcome.
