Greetings dear creative Hivers, it's another amazing week, I hope you all having a good day, I'm glad to finally meet up with a needlework Monday post on a Monday, you know there's that unique feeling of preparedness Monday brings.it's been a hectic day for me though as it also adds up as market Monday, yea, I went fabric shopping today, one of my favorite parts of designing just that it comes with a lot of stress, getting quality and affordable fabric In

In my country can be likened to finding a needle in a grass field sometimes, and for someone who values quality and the utmost satisfaction of my client, even when I make the dress for myself, I make sure to give my best sourcing for the best because the foundation of every beautiful dress is getting the right fabric to work with to give the desired outcome.

What adds up the extra this time is that I will be making a bride's traditional dress, the wedding is pretty soon, so yea, I'm in for all the stress as long as everything falls in place perfectly, and I will sure update you all along this exciting sewing journey.

For today's creative process, I will be sharing with you the making process of this beautiful crop blouse with puffy sleeves, alongside its flare skirt which I made as a Sunday outfit for my younger cousin, she came visiting to spend her holiday with my family and have been with us for a few weeks now, trust my sisters, my cousin, in this case, to be on my neck for me to make this outfit for her, and I've been postponing due to my tight work schedule, thankfully, I had a spare time during the weekend, and decided to finally yield to her plea.

Materials Used

  • Light crepe fabric
  • pattern paper
  • Lining
  • zipper

Making process

IMG-20241125-WA0053.jpg

  • For the blouse, I started by drafting a basic bodice pattern on paper, which I used in cutting the back fabric pattern, adding a zipper allowance

IMG-20241125-WA0044.jpg

  • And for the front pattern, I slashed and spread the right shoulder before transferring to the fabric.

  • Next, I turned their rough edges and joined both front and back patterns together.

IMG-20241125-WA0059.jpg

  • For the sleeves, I cut out an exaggerated puffy sleeve pattern, which I gathered on the normal-sized basic sleeve pattern to form the puffy sleeves.

  • While the skirt was cut as a 90-degree flare pattern, to get the radius, 6.28 is divided into four, the answer you get, you divide it by your round waist measurement by it.

  • I sewed in the zipper at the back and also sewed a one and half inch width waistband to the skirt.

Here is the beautiful result, my cousin is very happy with her new dress, and I will be off her pressure hook, at least for now.
What do you think about this dress, I would love to read your honest opinion, I hope you like the finished look as well. Till next time, Stay well.

These sleeves never go out of style, and that short blouse adds a modern, but at the same time bohemian air. I really liked it. Thanks for sharing.

Sourcing for fabrics is always a pain in our market here, I don’t know why they often never have quality and beautiful fabrics. You did a nice job with the outfit.

The finished outfit looks magnificent, dear @glorydee ! Really stylish and unique - I love the accentuating of the waist through the separation of the top and bottom parts, and the fabric of course is glorious: good choice! I'd really enjoy wearing something like this; pity we don't live closer, and I could pop by your atelier! 😍 🤗 A warm hug to you, and happy work days!!
