Happy New Week dear creators on Hive, and my fellow needleworkers in this wonderful community, wishing everyone a great week ahead.

Have you ever been challenged to do something you love in less than the actual time you would have normally done it, oh yes I have, I bet the rainy Saturday set the motion for this fun activity, I was with my family, taking a good weekend rest, while we surf through interesting skits and challenge online, one of which was an eating competition, you know how these sort of things sparks communication among friends and family, for me, it was my siblings and husband, and before you knew it, Glory was challenged to make a dress in less than 30 minutes.

The rule was that as long as it was wearable and beautiful, I would win the price of 1000 naira from each of them, summing to 5000 naira, the price is low, I know, but who doesn't like free money no matter the amount, as long as it can buy me lunch😁 well five of them did contribute, and trust me to do justice to the challenge, especially for why I love doing best.

To make sure I win, choosing an easy style is very important, thankfully my sister obliged to help me take pictures of the process, as there was no way I wouldn't share a dress made in 30 minutes on a needlework Monday hehe, I decided to make an adjustable halterneck flared dress, as it is straightforward and quite easy to make, getting a fabric wasn't a herculean task, since I had about 2 yards of this beautiful satin fabric at home and that was all I needed of course with the help of my sewing machine.

Cutting and Sewing Process

IMG_20241007_101524_952.jpg

IMG_20241007_101613_295.jpg

  • I started by placing the fabrics in two folds then in for fold, in a bias/triangular form.

IMG_20241007_102353_938.jpg

  • Next, I drafted an off-shoulder A-line dress pattern on the folded fabric, adding an extra two inches to the armhole length.

  • Both front and back patterns look alike when cut out and opened

  • continuing, I piped the raw edge of the armhole nearly in, before folding the chest area by the 2 inched extra length I added to the armhole.

IMG_20241007_120839_612.jpg

  • Then I joined both front and back by the sides, at this point, I still had less than 10 minutes left, so I was in between doubting if I would meet up with time, but brushed the thought as it came, I had my last born sister to thank for that, she kept hyping me through the sewing process, 😂😂

IMG_20241007_120751_773.jpg

  • Finally, I cut out this strip of fabric which measured about, sixty inches in length and three inches in width to make the rope for the neck ruffles.

  • And here is the final result, my beautiful ruffled/adjustable halter neck dress was made in less than 30 minutes because I finished about a few minutes past 29 minutes, It counts as less right. I am more than happy to have completed this challenge, not because of the price involved but because I was able to test my capabilities above all, it was fun for everyone, and at least I got to make a new unplanned comfy beautiful dress that my sister has been begging to have, but no, I'm keeping this one, I will make another for her soon.

If you were asked to make something in 30 minutes, what would you make?

Hehehhe another day to make money off the people you love, so hilarious but incredible😂 For the record 5000 naira is not small dearest Glory because that’s what some people earn daily. You did such a wonderful in just 30 minutes. Not everyone can achieve this in 30minz so we give you your flowers 💐💐 because you deserve them and many more. As a community, we are proud of you and your skills and until next time do not forget that you are a star🥰

Quite a challenge here and I bet that you didn't have the time to iron this out while sewing like I love to do. Though it's good that you passed the challenge, send my own share of the money 😂
