Introducing Coding in Schools: A Key to Unlocking Future Opportunities

The world we live in today revolves around technology, making life more entertaining and easier, but do you know that the foundation of most of the technology we interact with starts with what a programmer calls problem-solving, they come up with codes that solve specific problems, making the interface we interact with user friendly and a solution to that specific problem.

Take your bank app for instance, imagine those days when before we could make any transaction we had to travel long miles to the bank, stand in long queues, wasting productive time, just to withdraw or send money, but in today's world, solution has been provided in that aspect, when last did you have to go to the bank to make a simple transaction? I'm sure you can't remember the last time you did.

Several transactions are being carried out at the tip of our fingers in just a few seconds or minutes, transactions that would have taken us the whole day get done quickly, making life easier for business owners and consumers.

The role these programmers and developers play in our society is a huge one, but this field isn't saturated yet as most of us become aware of this important aspect of technology only when we've come of age and feel it will be difficult to get a grasp on because we lack the basic foundation, though we did computer in school, we were mostly taught about the basic component of a computer and not the in-depth knowledge of coding, algorithm or problem solving using the computer.

So the question of whether coding should be included as part of the curriculum of elementary and secondary school is a big yes, whether they would dive into the IT profession in the future or not is left for them to decide, but they shouldn't be deprived of this foundation as it is now a basic necessity in today's world.

As I stated, imagine coding as a problem-solving skill, then introducing our young ones to
The world we live in today revolves around technology, making life more entertaining and easier. From the smartphones in our pockets to the complex systems that power our homes, businesses, and governments, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives. But have you ever stopped to think about the foundation of most of the technology we interact with? It's problem-solving, and the codes that programmers create to solve specific problems.
Programmers and developers are the masterminds behind the user-friendly interfaces we interact with every day. They design and build the systems that enable us to perform tasks efficiently and effectively. Take, for instance, the banking app on your phone. Remember the days when we had to travel long distances to the bank, stand in long queues, and waste precious time just to withdraw or send money? Those days are behind us now, thanks to the solutions provided by programmers and developers.
With just a few taps on our screens, we can carry out transactions in seconds or minutes, transactions that would have taken an entire day to complete just a few decades ago. This has made life easier for business owners and consumers alike, freeing up time for more productive pursuits. The role that programmers and developers play in our society is huge, and yet, this field is far from saturated.
One of the main reasons for this is that many of us only become aware of the importance of coding and programming when we're already grown up. By that time, we often feel that it's too late to get started and that we lack the basic foundation to grasp the concepts. We may have learned about the basic components of a computer in school, but that's often where our education in technology stops. We rarely learn about the in-depth knowledge of coding, algorithms, or problem-solving using computers.
This is why I strongly believe that coding should be included as part of the curriculum in elementary and secondary schools. Whether or not students decide to pursue a career in IT in the future is beside the point. The fact is that coding and problem-solving skills are essential in today's world, and our young people shouldn't be deprived of this foundation.

Imagine coding as a problem-solving skill, rather than just a technical skill. By introducing our young ones to coding and programming at an early age, we are opening them to using their brains more logically and practically, teaching them to think critically and to break down complex problems into smaller bits to find creative solutions.

It's just my second year in this course of study and my little understanding of how the technologies we use get started has broadened, imagine giving children this opportunity, they would understand how things work, and make informed decisions about the technology they use. I see children in developed countries developing useful apps and technologies, all of which were made possible due to the early introduction of the basic concept.

No matter what field they choose to do in the future, trust me coding and problem-solving skills would come in handy as they are transferable to many areas of life.

For sure, it's going to benefit those that will channel their path to I.T sector and but to others, it's going to deal with them like the way further maths deals with people that hate mathematics 😅

Lol, At least coding can be put into practical use.

Exactly my thoughts.
If coding becomes a general knowledge just like English, it would make it a lot easier for the children in the future to interact in this new era of technology dominated world.
