Genetic Wishes for My Kids

Everyone prays to have exceptional children whom they would be proud of as they, in turn, be good examples to others in society, and it's not just about their physical appearance, yea we all want good-looking children, we also want them to be fit healthwise and have admirable characters as well and as they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, in this case, our children are made up of both parents genetically, mother nature play its cause, selecting traits from both the mum and dad, merging them up, the dominant traits are what we see come in reality, if you ever had biology class, I'm sure these terms aren't new to you.

But what if we could determine the kind of traits, phenotypes, and genotypes we want for our children because sincerely there might be some traits we don't want for them, like when choosing a partner for instance, assuming you have AS genotype, you would, of course, look forward to getting married to AA partner, as you wouldn't want any or even all of your children to have the Sickle dominant trait so as not not suffer complicated health challenges, these are some of the knowledge our parent were ignorant about, but we know better now, still we can't decide on other traits all the time.

I already have two kids, and sometimes see myself and my hubby in them, so far, nature has been nice to me, starting with their phenotype, My signature full eyebrows which I think look unique and make me attractive are already plastered on their faces, yea, I've got two beautiful daughters just like their mum, one physical attribute that I have and wouldn't want them to have is my hairy nature, though it's a bit reduced now compared to some years back, it can be annoying carrying a hairy chest, legs, and chin as a lady, though it doesn't make me less attractive. Before I spent extra time trying to make my skin smooth all the time, spending more on some skin care products less hairy skin girls never have to worry about, gladly, they did not inherit the hairy skin, which might be recessive in their case.

Genetically, I would love for them both to be AA so they don't have to go through the hurdles of trying to find genetically compatible partners after liking someone, also being in good health is the biggest wealth one can wish for their children

Other characteristics I possess and would want for them are being intelligent, being able to learn and adapt fast as this is one characteristic that has sustained me living in a competitive world, I would love for them to be emotionally intelligent as well, an emotionally intelligent woman cannot be taken advantage of because she knows her stand.

I am a creative person, and it will give me joy to have creative children as well, people with creative minds proffer solutions to problems rather than complain, and they hardly lack because they are solution providers.

Of course, there are many more things I wish for them, I believe with these traits, they would be able to thrive in this fast-evolving world,

I totally get you, every parent wants healthy and well-behaved kids. I laughed a bit at the eyebrow and hairy skin part, I can relate. Your girls are lucky, and it’s clear you’re doing your best for them.

This was such a lovely read! I love how you are so intentional about the traits you want your children to have, both inside and out. Your daughters are definitely growing up with a strong and thoughtful role model!

Yeah. You are right dear. Most times also I see my myself and husband in our children. Some traits I don't like, but some I still want for them.
Thanks for sharing

It's interesting how you reflect on your own characters, the one's you feel cool with and the one that's otherwise. Knowing both csm shape your kids. I love all those points you emphasize on as well...emotional intelligence and all. It's lovely to see parents thinking deeply about the values and qualities they want to instill in their children.

Thanks for sharing.

Emotional intelligence is one big trait most people don't have and it is actually very important in relationships. Personally, i wouldn't say i am enotionally intelligent but yeah i would definitely want my kids to have that as a behavioural trait for sure.
