DIY Straight Skirt
Happy weekend, dear hivers. I hope you are all having a fun weekend, as we prepare for the new week. It's another exciting edition of the Hive Learners Creative Sunday, and for my entry today, I will be sharing with you a simple sewing tutorial on how to make a straight skirt.
I made this skirt as a matching pair with a corset blouse, which is still in the process of being made. And it was made at night, the reason the images might look a bit dark. But don't you worry, the sewing process is straightforward and easy to follow, as straight skirts are one of the easiest things to sew, especially for beginners, as its pattern is straightforward, and it doesn't take much time to make.
I used a green lace fabric and its owner wanted it to e lined with purple to match her purple coloured blouse, so here we go
Materials Used
- Lace fabric
- Satin fabric
- Zipper
- Matching coloured thread
Cutting And Sewing Process
- I started by cutting the skirt pattern using the satin fabric, which will serve as the lace lining, shaping out the waist, hip and length of the skirt.
- Then I transferred the pattern to the lace fabric, cutting it out as well
- Continuing, I used the purple lining to line the front pattern, turning the sides and upper part
- I also turned the back pattern with its lining and sewed a zipper to the upper side, leaving a slit on the end part.
- Finally. I joined the front and back sides of the skirt with their sides, and that completes the process of making the long, straight skirt.
I hope you find this skirt-making process easy to follow. Will you be recreating yours?

A really cute skirt, with a fine piece of fabric material. The final result is commendable. Well done
