Happy weekend dear lovely hivers, I hope your weekend is already starting on a good note.

If you follow my needlework blog you already know how I'm particular about making sewing birthday gifts, so when I was informed about Koyin's first birthday, I knew I had a new project to work on. Koyin is my neighbor's daughter whom we've become fond of, in the short while we've moved in here, and my daughters take her like their last-born sister as she likes to spend time with them. She is a happy child filled with so much joy and laughter.

What would be suited for a one-year-old if not a cute dress and a jumpsuit, I already finished making the jumpsuit which I will be sharing with us today, the style chosen is a simple one, so anyone with with a little sewing knowledge following the steps I would provide can easily recreate this jumpsuit style for their little one.

Without further ado, let's get right into the making process.

Materials used

  • light crepe fabric
  • Matching coloured thread
  • Elastic

Cutting And Sewing Process

IMG_20250515_133524_564.jpg

  • I started by drafting the upper side of the jumpsuit using a basic one-year-old bodice pattern with the back measuring 4 inches on fold, the length 7.5 inches, and the bust and waist 7 inches.

  • The back neckline isn't as deep as the front, but I opened a slit since I won't be using a zipper.

  • For the lower part of the jumpsuit, I drafted a free trouser pattern for both the front and back.
  • Continuing, I joined the trouser patterns by the crotch area

  • I also cut out the sleeves in a semi-circle shape, then gathered them to both armholes

  • Next, I joined the upper front bodice to the lower front trousers by the waist area and also did the same for the back

  • Then I joined the side seams on one side and sewed the elastic band around the waist to shape it since the original measurement is a bit bigger than her body size, this helps give the jumpsuit shape and allows her to wear it for a long time before it becomes smaller as they grow fast.

  • I sewed the inseam of the trouser side and also hemmed it nearly creating an elastic passage for it as well

And here is the final beautiful result.

Beautiful, isn't it, she gets to receive her cute jumpsuit today as soon as I'm done with the dressmaking. So let me get started on that now.

All images used in this post are mine.

Thanks for reading.❤❤
