Creative Sunday | Transforming Leftover Fabric into a Cute Toddler Dress
Happy Sunday dear hivers, hope you are all enjoying your weekend, for me, it's more of a relaxing Sunday, after returning from church, so here I am recharging for the new week as I share one of my recent DIY projects with you for today"s creative Sunday edition.
It is a floral A-line or flare dress as it is commonly referred to in my country. Over the week, I made a dress for a friend of mine and still had some leftover fabric, trust me not to waste fabrics when I know it can be put to good use,
I asked if she wanted something else made out the leftover, or a niece, I could make a dress for since the leftovers weren't so big either to make another dress for an adult. Luckily for her, she has a two-year-old niece, so I decided to put this beautiful fabric into good use, which she was so happy for as she would get to twin dress with her favorite niece, so she said lol.
Without further ado, let's get right into the making process.
The materials used are just the African print and a matching colored thread.
- I started by folding the fabric into four in bias, instead of straight cut, this helps give the flare that full wavy effect.
- opening it up, Here is the front and back,
- Next, I joined the front and back pattern by the shoulders
- continuing, still cutting a strip in bias form with the same fabric, I piped around the neckline, and also the armhole area.
- I made sure to make a slit at the back neckline and inserted a button loop
- Finally, I joined both from and back with the seam allowance given during drafting and also hemmed the base of the dress. Here is the beautiful final look.
Very easy to make and less time-consuming, as it took me less than an hour to make this dress, I'm glad an adorable girl somewhere would get to have a new dress, and that's the joy of making a new dress for someone.
Thank you for reading.❤❤
