Creative Sunday | Making a little girl's short from leftover fabric

Happy Sunday dear Hivers, indeed it is a happy Sunday do me, and I hope it's the same for you as well.

It's another interesting creative Sunday edition on the Hive Learners community, and I'll be sharing with you all, the shorts I made out of leftover fabrics, being a designer, I get to have lots of leftover fabric that could create a cluttered mess if I don't trash them or rather make something useful out of them, it is always a full-time commitment from me, as I hate having my room or workspace cluttered, and to make it worst I usually don't have the mind to throw away beautiful leftover fabrics, so rather than discarding them, as long as it can make even a baby's outfit, trust me to put such fabric to use and in turn gift the outfit to my neighbor or friend.

Today, I'll be making use of this beautifully patterned Kente fabric, I made a blouse out of the main material, thinking of what best to put this leftover fabric to use, and after measuring it out, a short is the best idea that could fit a 1-3 years old child.

Making process

  • I started by drafting the front pattern

  • Next, using the front pattern, I drafted the back pattern, which is about 1.5 inches bigger than the front.

  • Then, I sewed the front and back patterns separately by the crotch area.

  • Continuing, I joined both front and back by the sides an the inseam area.

  • Finally, I hemmed the base of the shorts and folded the waist area where I could either pass an elastic or rope.

Here is the short's final look, which I would be gifting to my neighbor's 2-year-old daughter, I'm happy to get one leftover fabric piece out, till next time, stay awesome!

Thank you for reading.❤❤
