Back to School New Uniforms For my Nephew
Hello Hive,
It's the last holiday weekend as our children will be resuming back to school after the long summer break, sure both parents and their children are happy about this resumption, my daughter for instance can't stop talking about the new class she will be resuming to, because she will be promoted to a new class and also have to start using pens now, instead of just pencls she had been using in previous class.
Another part of resumption is the preparation, and that often comes with significant expenses, from school fees, to buying textbooks, new shoes, and uniform, and other stationery, etc. My nephew and daughters have outgrown their school uniforms, so I don't have a choice than to get them new ones, thankfully, I can sew and the materials needed to make the uniforms are readily available in the fabric store, so rather than buy it more expensive from thr school, I made them myself, and they can't wait for Monday to come already so they can wear their new uniform to schoel.
Today, I will be sharing with you how I made my nephew's uniform shirt using white cotton fabric and a piece of the shorts linen fabric. I recently made a new pair of shorts for him, just before they vacated, so he will still be using them this new term. So without further ado, let's get right into the making process.
Materials used
Cutting and Sewing process
- First, I started by cutting the front shirt pattern, leaving an extra two inches fold in front which will serve as the button hole and button lapel.
- I also cut out the back pattern of fold, which is why it has just one piece
- Next. using the short linen fabric, I sewed and piped it on one side of the center front, to match the previous uniform, and top-stitched the ends of the other.
- Continuing, I joined the front and back by the shoulder area
- Then I went further to cut the collar pattern with the fabric, which I sewed around the neckline area
- I also cut the shirt's short sleeves pattern, and I sewed it around both armhole areas of the shirt.
- Finally, I created button holes, fixed the buttons, and hemmed the base of the shirt neatly, and that completes the making process of the school uniform shirt.
I made his first, and he started showing off his new uniforms to make others feel jealous, it was a funny scene seeing our children eager to be in school. I calmed the rest, assuring them I would make a new uniform for everybody.
