Adulthood Na Scam

Adulthood na Scam I bet a lot of us Nigerians are already familiar with this phrase, meaning the life we dreamed of becoming as a child isn't what it seems to be when we finally arrive at adulthood. A lot of us had big dreams, graduate from the university at 21, becoming financially stable at 25, and by 28, we are already at the alter saying I do to the love of our lives and living happily ever after, only if we knew that reality had a different ball game and challenges for us.

Luckily, I didn't have the kind of parent who dictated what they wanted me to be, they allowed me to choose my path, but yet, there were still the financial and educational restraints at some point that I had to opt for another course of study when I didn't make the merit list of my desired course of study at that time, Medicine and Surgery. Even when I was done with the other choice still I didn't feel fulfilled not until I found my passion in fashion design, very funny if someone had told me that I would one day enjoy creatively designing dresses for other people, I would laugh out loud in disbelief. Yet, here I am, doing just that and not even limited to that, I also started a second-degree pursuit in a course of interest.

Do I regret the options I made for myself today?

Hell no! I believe every decisions and path I've taken today has only led me to become a better version of myself, as we keep learning every day. And living in a country like mine with its difficult economic situation, you are left with no choice but to be hardworking and create a name for yourself, as the government doesn't provide any amenities that ease the burden of adulthood. It is a tough reality, but I now see it as a blessing in disguise, think about it this way, it has made us develop a strong sense of resilience and determination, which has enabled us to thrive in the face of all the difficulties we face, go to any country in the world, I'm sure you will see a Nigerian there somehow.

As the holy book says, 'there is no food for a lazy man' Yes becoming an adult comes with responsibilities, bills upon bills and it never stops unless you cease to exist which I know isn't on our list of options, especially intentionally, so the best way to keep living and not feel weighed down, is to keep pushing and never lose hope, as there is always the best still inside of us yet to unfold, and that's how we beat adulthood, have fun when you need to,take your wellbeing and wellness as much as important as you take making money as we don't want to retire as a result of sickness but because we want to and is the right time to.

Most individuals give up on themselves because of their low background and feel they can never meet the big names in the society they admire, but that should be all the more reason to keep pushing. We've seen leaders with even worse backgrounds and very humble beginnings make it to the top, so truly, we have no excuse

It is very vital for us to remember that it's okay to take our time, to make mistakes, and to learn from them. We don't have to have it all figured out right now. What's important is that we're moving forward, even if it's just a small step at a time, keep moving, one day we will look back and be grateful and proud of all the obstacles we overcame to be where we are.

That is just life, we make plans but God has the final say. I love the last paragraph, life is a journey, we don't have to rush it. There is nothing wrong with making mistakes amd taking corrections until we eventually become that very person we have always dreamed to become.
