A Long Overdue Visit

I hardly have the time to think about my next holiday lately, due to how tight I know my work schedule and other personal activities will be from now till the end of the year but there is one person who would make me no matter how busy I am create a special time of the year for holiday at her place.

It's none other than my mother in law, luckily for me I have my own family residing in the same state as mine, so regular visits to their place aren't an issue at all, I even let my kids spend most weekends with my parents, but my hubby's family reside far away from my current state of residence and it takes about 12 hours on road and an hour by air, all of which cost a lot of money as we are a family of four, meaning I have to book for four tickets, then imagine paying the current high cost of transport multiplied by four.

We've managed to skip traveling for the past three years now due to this very reason, while my mum inlaw is a very understanding woman, one of the very many virtues I love and admire her for, still, I can't help but feel guilty staying away for such a long time and hubby feels likewise, to think that she hasn't even got the chance to meet her second granddaughter since her birth, though we call her often, nothing beats meeting her physically, so we hopefully wish our desire to visit her this year during the long Summer break by august become a reality, and of course we have to save for the trip ahead.

My mother-in-law is one wonderful woman. I'm happy I became her daughter, she is lively to be with and the opposite of the stereotyped mother-in-law in Nigeria, if you don't understand what I mean, try watching a Nollywood movie, with a mother-in-law in the storyline, you would understand better.

I guess I count myself lucky to have her, and staying this long and not having the time to visit makes me feel very bad, we would spend the whole month, making her feel less lonely, have more bonding time with the children, enjoy her traditional delicious meals, while we chat heartily as she also inputs her worst of wisdom. I sure would be following her to the market as well, one habit I'm not sure she will be stopping anytime soon, as she is a big-time businesswoman.

It is important we still maintain a physical connection with our aged parents no matter the pressure we face as adults with family, after this visit, we also hope she agrees to come to spend some time with us over here too, so she could take a proper rest and have as much time together with her grandchildren because school time is another reason that set us back from taking this holiday, it's going to be fun and fulfilling, that I know for sure.

Thank you for reading❤❤

It is strange how the situation of the country affects everything, including creating distance between loved ones. I mean if the transportation expenses wasn't so costly, you wouldn't really be bothered about the cost.

It is great that you have an understanding mother-in-law, I know some mother-in-law who would have demanded your presence, regardless of what it might cost.
