The Extra Girly Dress Transformation
Happy New Week, Hive friends! It's another exciting Needlework Monday, so I'm looking forward to reading all your beautiful creations today. I also wish everyone a wonderful week ahead.
As promised, I'm sharing today how to add a touch of elegance to plain dresses with simple yet effective details which can make a whole lot of difference. Some times last week, I shared about the making of this beautiful scuba dress and also hinted about adding an extra touch to the dress to give it its final look, so here you have it, I call it, the extra girly dress.
Do you also remember that this dress belongs to a fellow hiver? After completing the dresses, I got it delivered to her, and was so happy that they loved their dresses. She even sent me a short video clip looking beautiful in her dress as it fitted perfectly. That was the satisfaction I needed as it made my day. Getting positive feedback after the effort we put into creating is sure satisfying. Thank you @merit.ahama, I'll be sewing your wedding dress too when the time comes lol
So without further ado, let's get right into today's tutorial on how to give your plain dresses those extra girly details using bows and fabric flowers. The material used in making these accessories is also a scuba fabric. Using the blue color gave it that beautiful contrasting effect, as using the same color as the dress would still look plain. We needed that girly pop.
For the bows
I cut out four small rectangles. This size depends on how big you want your bow, for mine, I wanted mini bows, hence the size
- Then I sewed the middle and sides before flipping it to the good side, tucking the sewed part in
- Then I sewed a loop using the plain scuba fabric
I also cut the loops into smaller pieces and then used them to hold the middle of the rectangular-shaped pieces. The mini bows are ready.
Using a candle gum, I attached them to the front gathered sides of the dress, two on each sides.
For the fabric flower
- I also cut out a long rectangle of about 22 inches on fold. I gave it a good press to flatten it, then made a gathered stitch on the other open ends.
- Gathering it now, the ruffles are formed. I also placed the loop in it to form a pollen
- Then, finally using the candle gum, I placed the two fabric flowers above the bust areas, and that completes the making process of this dress.
Promise kept, till next time. Have a great day and lovely week
