Games and sports: A necessity for the human body.
Games and sports are one of the fun activities I have come to embrace for my physical, mental and social development. This is one aspect I never used to pay attention to. I just felt it was not really important. But after I got Admission to study physical and health Education in the university there I got to know that it was going to be a necessity as a member of that department to get to love and embrace Games and sport. One of the days, the lecturer in charge of physical activities had to take attendance of those who attended to show that it was compulsory for all students from the department from level 100 to level 400. Then I got to know I was in for a serious business.
But after a series of times spent there I began to enjoy the activities there hence my prompt to always being available for every sporting activity. There I got to meet people from other levels, make friends, and had people who kept making me love coming for the sports and games activity aside from the fact that it was a compulsory activity in my department.
Every Friday was for the sporting activities where we get to engage in various types of Games and sports which includes football,cycling,basketball, exercises to keep fit and many more activities. One of the most exciting games I love engaging in is skipping, Jump rope and Hide and Seek.
It has been fun and it has really helped promote my physical fitness and overall well-being. Being there I learnt much about the importance of Games and sports and what it does to the human body. These includes:
Regular participation in sports and games promotes physical fitness and overall well-being. Engaging in physical activities helps reduce the risk of obesity, boosts immunity and contributes to a longer and a healthier life.
Games and sports have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. It alleviates stress, improves one's mood and reduces anxiety or depression. When you engage in sports and games activity, it fosters a sense of belonging and it boosts self- esteem.
Sports and games play a vital role in social development by fostering teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Sports teach individuals the importance of cooperation, coordination, and mutual respect.
Through interactions with teammates, opponents, coaches, and spectators, individuals learn to navigate social dynamics, resolve conflicts, and develop empathy. Sports provide opportunities for forming friendships, and building social support networks, which are essential for emotional well-being.
With the knowledge of the importance of sports and games to the human body, I have now been so intentional about how I actively participate in sporting activities. I have grown to love sports so much and I cannot go a day without some sporting and games activities. I enjoy the thrill of the game and it brings joy and excitement to school life.
