Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Portly Cannoneer (Eng/Ita)

And yes, another Conflict has ended, and unfortunately, this time, I wasn’t as lucky as the previous one, when I pulled a gold Zyrx the Emberglace, and I have to accept the fact that I found 0 cards from the latest airdrop, namely Zarin the Scorch. I don’t want to sound like the “sour grapes” fox, deliberately downplaying what I didn’t get, but Zyrx the Emberglace seems to me a much more powerful card compared to Zarin. In fact, the current market prices reflect this gap, with Zyrx valued at $9.2, while Zarin is at $6.95.

The new airdrop from the third Conflict is called Calamity, another Dragon element monster, and once again Conflicts are proving to be a forge of new elements. Calamity immediately presents itself as a super-performing card for only 4 mana cost, but it comes with a very high price to pay in terms of its Debilitation, namely Electrified, which inflicts -1 damage to all teammates starting from Round 2.

As always, the Splinterlands team carefully balanced excellent value between stats, abilities and mana cost, then rebalanced everything with a heavy price to pay on the battlefield through a Debilitation. And Electrified really is a very high cost for your team to bear.

But today, in this week’s Splinterlands Social Media Challenge, we’re looking at a much simpler card to play, from the new Conclave Arcana edition.

Portly Cannoneer, a common Fire element card from the Dwarf bloodline, already proves solid from level 1, with a cost of only 4 mana, 3 Health, 1 Speed, 1 Ranged, and the very useful Inspire ability, which grants +1 to all companions with Melee attack.

At level 2 it already increases to 2 Ranged attack, and at level 5 it gains Return Fire, later adding Fury at level 9.

The price on the market is super affordable today, only $0.063 per BCX, so it’s a very easy card to upgrade, and even reaching the 60 cards needed to bring it to level 5 is not that difficult.

In this medium Mana cap battle, 34, we have only one ruleset, namely Fog of War, so we had quite a bit of freedom, and we could balance well between Heavyweights and agile Little League cards.

I chose my usual favorite archon, Lorkus, with the pair Chaos Golem and Gramel The Hunger on offense, followed by Portly Cannoneer, Lucky Longshot and Elanor Bravefoot.

My opponent instead went for the new CA archon named Fithe Bladestone, with Ferrous Brewer as Tank, followed by Ulundin Overseer, Infernal Firestorm and Flame for Hire.

My opponent chose well-upgraded cards that filled the available Mana Cap nicely, but unfortunately for him, I think he got confused and swapped Ulundin Overseer with Ferrous Brewer. In fact, he should have placed the hippo without attack in the first position, not in the second where it had no function, except to wait for Ferrous Brewer to die to take its place.

These are the kinds of mistakes that happen when playing against humans, like in the Modern format, but that never happen in the Wild format.

My team performed excellently, and the attacking duo benefited greatly from the +1 melee boost given by Portly Cannoneer, with my Tank, Chaos Golem, even reaching 6 melee attack.

Portly Cannoneer proves to be an extremely useful card in almost all battles, not only in Little League, where it can naturally join thanks to its low 4 mana cost, but also by boosting the melee attack of its Heavyweight companions and helping win battles at medium-high Mana Cap.

E bene sì, è finita un'altra Conflict, e purtroppo, questa volta, non sono stato fortunato come la scorsa, quando ho trovato un Zyrx the Emberglace in formato oro, e devo accettare il fatto di aver trovato 0 carte dell'ultimo airdrop, ovvero Zarin the Scorch: non voglio fare la figura della "volpe e l'uva", dove denigro volutamente quello che non ho ottenuto, però Zyrx the Emberglace mi sembra una carta molto più performante rispetto a Zarin, infatti le due quotazioni attuali nel mercata, rispecchiano questo divario (Zyrx valutato 9,2 $, mentre Zarin è valutato 6,95$ ).

Il nuovo airdrop della terza Conflict si chiama Calamity, un altro mostro dell'elemento Dragon, che sta trovando nelle Conflicts un fucina di nuovi elementi: Calamity si presenta subito come una carta super-performante per i soli 4 mana di costo che ha, però presenta un prezzo molto alto da pagare per quanto riguarda la sua Debilitation, ovvero Electrified, che infligge un danno di -1 a tutti compagni di squadra a partire dal Round 2.

Come sempre, lo staff di Splinterlands ha deciso di giostrare con cura una grandissima convenienza in quanto a rapporto tra stats/abilità e costo in mana, e ha poi riequilibrato il tutto con un alto prezzo ,da pagare in campo, con una Debilitation, e Electrified si presenta come un altissimo prezzo da pagare per la propria squadra.

Ma oggi, nel Splinterlands Social Media Challenge di questa settimana, vediamo una carta molto più semplice da giocare, della nuova edizione Conclave Arcana.

Portly Cannoneer: carta comune dell'elemento Fire e della bloodline Dwarf, si presenta, fin dal primo livello, molto solida, con un costo di soli 4 mana, e 3 di Health, 1 di Speed e Ranged, e l'utilissima abilità Inspire, che dona +1 a tutti i compagni con attacco Melee.

Già al livello di potenziamento 2 sale a 2 di attacco Ranged, e al livello 5 ottiene Return Fire, a cui poi, al livello 9, aggiunge anche Fury.

Il prezzo è super conveniente sul mercato, oggi, con una quotazione di solo 0,063 $ per BCX, quindi è una carta molto facile da potenziare, e anche ottenere il numero di 60 carte per portarlo al livello 5, non è poi così difficile.

In questa sfida a medio Mana cap, 34, abbiamo solo un ruleset, ovvero Fog of War, e quindi abbiamo abbastanza libertà di azione, e possiamo dosare bene mostri Heavweights con agili carte da Little League.

Io ho scelto il mio solito archon preferito, ovvero Lorkus, con l'accoppiata Choas Golem e Gramel The Hunger in attacco, seguiti da Portly Cannoneer, Lucky Longshot e Elanor Bravefoot.

Il mio avversario, invece, si è orientato verso il nuovo archon CA di nome Fithe Bladestone, con Ferrous Brewer in posizione Tank, seguito da Ulundin Overseer, Infernal Firestorm e Flame for Hire.

Il mio avversario ha scelto delle carte ben potenziate e che riempivano bene il Mana Cap a disposizione, ma purtroppo per lui, credo si sia confuso ed ha scambiato Ulundin Overseer con Ferrous Brewer, infatti doveva mettere l'ippopotamo senza attacco in prima posizione, e non nella seconda dove non aveva nessuna funzione, se non aspettare che Ferrous Brewer morisse per lasciargli il posto,

Sono quelle sviste che capitano quando si gioca con esseri umani, come nel formato Modern, in questo caso, ma che nel formato Wild non succedono mai.

La mia squadra si è comportata in maniere eccellente, e il duo di attacco ha beneficiato alla grande del +1 in melee donato da Portly Cannoneer, con il mio Tank, ovvero Chaos Golem, che è arrivato a, addirittura, 6 di attacco melee.

Portly Cannoneer si dimostra un carta estremamente utile in quasi tutte le sfide, e non solo quelle Little League, dove può partecipare di diritto grazie al suo contenuto costo di soli 4 mana, ma può potenziare l'attacco melee dei suoi compagni Heavyweights e aiutare a vincere sfide anche a medio-alto Mana Cap.
