Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Mar Toren Trader (Eng/Ita)

In about 5 days from the time I'm writing this post, the Pre-Sale of the new card edition Conclave Arcana will officially begin — a moment that will mark a turning point for Splinterlands. This new edition will bring a deep renewal of game mechanics and will replace the historic Chaos Legion edition in the Modern format — the only format that guarantees matches exclusively against human players, excluding the use of bots.

A long-awaited change by players, but one that will force many to evaluate their card collection if they want to remain competitive in the Modern format.

And in this week’s Splinterlands Social Media Challenge, we will take a look at a Rebellion card that can help us precisely in this kind of ranked challenge.

Mar Toren Trader: a common Water element card, costing only 3 mana. At level 1 it has rather light stats, although aligned with the cost/quality ratio typical of these cards. However, it has the drawback of not having any abilities until level 4.

At level 4, it finally becomes a card worth considering, with 4 Health, 2 Ranged, 1 Speed, and the Headwinds ability, which inflicts -1 to all enemy ranged attacks.

And at level 10, it becomes an exceptional card, also gaining the regenerative Heal ability — but you’ll need to combine a whopping 400 cards to reach that level.

In this battle, I chose a somewhat unusual team for me, with Pembrook Nymph as summoner, and Alva the Crusher in the Tank position, followed by Mar Toren Trader in second place, and the duo Elanor Bravefoot and Torrent Fiend to complete the lineup.

My opponent, on the other hand, went for a classic Chaos Legion Death element team, which in a few days will no longer be usable: with Thaddius Brood as summoner, they placed Cursed Windeku in first position, followed by Chaos Agent, Carrion Shade, and Life Sapper.

This was a great battle that seemed quite even at first, but once the opponent’s tank — Cursed Windeku — was taken out, everything started heading in one direction: my team's victory.

My Mar Toren Trader, in Gold format at level 4, couldn’t use her Headwinds ability because none of the opponent’s cards had ranged attacks.

Still, this card remains, for the low cost of just 3 mana, a great option to keep in mind — especially for low mana cap battles and under the Little League ruleset. Its biggest weakness is the low Health — only 4 points with no Armor — which can be easily wiped out by opponents. So it’s worth leveling up or using it with rulesets like Equalizer.

Ciao a tutti amici di Splinterlands !!!

Tra circa 5 giorni da quando sto scrivendo questo post, inizierà ufficialmente la Pre-Sale della nuova edizione di carte Conclave Arcana, un momento che segnerà una svolta epocale per Splinterlands. Questa nuova edizione porterà con sé un profondo rinnovamento nelle meccaniche di gioco e prenderà il posto della storica edizione Chaos Legion nel formato Modern, l’unico formato che garantisce partite esclusivamente contro giocatori umani, escludendo l’utilizzo dei bot.

Un cambiamento attesissimo dai giocatori, ma che obbligherà molti a valutare la loro collezione di carte se vogliono continuare a restare competitivi nel formato Modern.

E nel Splinterlands Social Media Challenge di questa settimana, vedremo una carta Rebellion che ci potrà aiutare proprio in questa tipologia di sfida ranked.

Mar Toren Trade: carta comune dell'elemento Water, costa solamente 3 di mana, e al primo livello risulta un po' leggera di stats, anche se in linea con il rapporto prezzo/qualità di questo tipo di carte, ha la pecca di non avere nessuna abilità fino al livello 4.

Al livello 4, finalmente, inizia a diventare una carta da prendere in considerazione, con 4 di Health, 2 di Ranged, 1 di Speed, e l'abilità Headwinds, che infligge -1 a tutti gli attacchi ranged avversari.

E al livello 10 di potenziamento, diventa una carta eccezionale, conquistando anche l'abilità rigenerativa Heal, ma bisogna combinare ben 400 carte per arrivare a quel livello.

In questa sfida ho scelto una squadra un po' atipica per me, con Pembrook Nymph come evocatore, e Alva the Crusher in posizione Tank, seguita da Mar Toren Trader in seconda posizione, e l'accopiata Elanor Bravefoot e Torrent Fiend a chiudere la squadra.

Il mio avversario, invece, si è orientato verso una classica squadra Choas Legion del'elemento Death, che tra pochi giorni non potrà più essere usata: infatti, con Thaddius Brood come evocatore, ha messo Cursed Windeku in prima posizione, seguito da Chaos Agent, Carrion Shade e Life Sapper.

Questa è stata una bella sfida, che sembrava all'inizio abbastanza alla pari, ma da quando il tank avversario, ovvero Cursed Windeku, ha lasciato il campo di battaglia, tutto è scivolato verso una sola direzione, la vittoria della mia squadra.

La mia Mar Toren Trader , in formato Oro al livello 4, non ha potuto usare la sua abilità Headwinds perchè nessuna carta avversaria aveva attacchi ranged.

Però questa carta rimane, per il costo di soli 3 mana, un'ottima alternativa da tenere in considerazione, visto che può essere usata in sfida con basso mana cap, e con il ruleset Little League, forse il grande punto debole è il totale basso di Health, solo 4 punti senza Armor che possono essere spazzati via molto facilmente dagli avversari, quindi andrebbe potenziata a livelli superiori, oppure usata con ruleset come Equalizer.
