Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! - Maneuvers (ENG/ITA)
Good evening, Splinterlands friends!!!
In the fast-paced and strategic world of Splinterlands, the placement of your monsters can make the difference between victory and defeat. One of the most crucial aspects to consider is the effectiveness of Melee attack monsters. These powerful fighters shine in the first position, dealing heavy damage to enemies. However, their utility decreases drastically when they are not in the front spot, unless they possess special abilities like Sneak, Reach, or Opportunity, which allow them to attack from the backlines.
Let's see what happens when we encounter a special ruleset for this type of monster in this week's Battle Mage Secrets Challenge!!!
Maneuvers: With this ruleset, all monsters on the field gain the Reach ability, allowing them to attack from the second position as well.
Obviously, this is a great advantage for Melee monsters, though it offers less freedom than Super Sneak, which allows attacks from any position. With Maneuvers, we need to focus on which monster to choose for the second position in our team.
Here is the link to the battle I want to show you:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_f9ca5937748c1f071032f8db534039e6
And these are the game rules:
A generous mana cap of 47, with, in addition to Maneuvers, the Reverse Speed ruleset, which favors slower monsters.
This battle gives us a lot of freedom in our choices, but it's better not to get too carried away and stay grounded.
And here is the battlefield:
I leaned more towards creativity, starting with the summoner Astral Entity, with Harklaw in the Tank position, followed by Shadow Snitch, Uraeus, Sand Worm, Ravenhood Warden, and finally, the mighty Raa.
My opponent, on the other hand, chose a Soulbound summoner, which allows for a Gladius monster, specifically Eternan Brune, with the evergreen Grum Flameblade in the first position, followed by Gorth, Mordeus, Sorriel the Bale, Scorch Fiend, and finally, Iidry Fyre.
Too much creativity for me, it would have been much better to choose a more proven card selection that I knew would work based on previous matches. Usually, in these challenges, I go with Yodin Zaku with Grum Flameblade in the tank position.
Astral Entity was an unfortunate choice, and Harklaw in the first position also disappointed a lot. However, Grum Flameblade withstood all attacks and, thanks to his Bloodlust ability, increased all his stats.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_f9ca5937748c1f071032f8db534039e6

Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 55/65) Liquid rewards.
Grum is a tough tank, and often very tough to beat. That bloodlust once started makes it so hard to beat him.
Now Yodin/Grum would be one nasty combo. I've never tried that one out but I don't have Yodin. I'll have to rent and try it out just for the fun it!
Great post!
