RE: Professional Rugby Minsdset At School Boy Level

In highschool I was mostly involved in cross-country and track, but had a brief stint playing rugby my senior year and into university. Rugby was a club at my school, and any training outside of running drills and practicing plays was done on your own time. Even with varsity track, lifting weights was always secondary to training outside, and supplements were unheard of. Yes, we probably suffered longer after a tough training day than today's youth, but I think that also builds resilience and character. I can't imagine kids today taking steroids to compete, as this can have lasting effects on their bodies. I hope that the schools will remember the true purpose of sport is to build character and not only to win accolades at the cost of long-term health.
