Weigh the undertaking / Sopesar el emprendimiento

Hello friends of the Community. In this post, I address a series of questions, seeking guidance and information to boost growth.

We all know that starting a business isn't that simple. We must find the main idea, a clear objective that we materialize as we move forward. In my case, I've been struggling for months to create my own business. Like any impulse, it's born from passion, from the desire to create. My goal was to connect my knowledge with my artistic creation, connecting it with the community, and for this activity to generate income.

Then I felt pressured to meet these goals, primarily pursuing income. The economic situation in Cuba has forced me to confront this reality, which I hadn't previously felt so strongly about. This past year, I'm graduating and must start working, facing the world through uncertainty, price inflation, and the increasing insecurities that add up every year. A reality I must face without the proper tools.

My academic training prepares me to work in state institutions, not to build something of my own. This requires a double effort: studying more and defining my true strengths. My literary foundation, forged before university, equipped me with literary and critical skills. However, in Cuba, it is very difficult to make a living from literature. Furthermore, the readership is declining and becoming more selective. Literature must adapt to the age of the internet and its algorithms, without sacrificing quality. Therefore, I have been learning photography and video art to improve myself. On the other hand, I am drawn to research, interviews, and criticism, which are inherent to my career and so necessary in these times when the historical memory of our identity is slowly dissolving.

Creation and research are the two main pillars on which I operate, but I haven't yet figured out how to turn this into a venture that guarantees I'll put food on the table. Being here at #Ecency has been a way to alleviate this problem, to share and learn about other points of view. Every foundation takes time to consolidate, and here at Ecency, building community and sharing is essential. But for us Cubans, with Etecsa's new plans, which limit our sailing time, it makes it even more difficult for this ship, so full of counterweights, to stop sailing in circles.

Hola amigos de la Comunidad. En este post manifiesto una serie de dudas en busca de guía e información para potenciar el crecimiento.

Todos sabemos que comenzar un negocio no es tan sencillo. Debemos de encontrar la idea principal, un objetivo claro que vamos materializando mediante avanzamos. En mi caso, llevo meses siendo la necedad de crear mi propio emprendimiento. Como todo impulso nace de la pasión, del deseo de crear. Mi objetivo era vincular mis conocimientos con mi creación artística relacionándola con la comunidad, y que esta actividad me genere ingresos.

Luego me sentí presionado a cumplir estos objetivos, persiguiendo principalmente los ingresos económicos. La situación económica en Cuba me ha obligado a chocar con esta realidad que antes no sentía tan en carne propia. En este último año me graduo y debo de empezar a trabajar, viendo al mundo desde la incertidumbre, la inflación de los precios y más inseguridades que se suman cada año. Una realidad que debo enfrentar sin las herramientas adecuadas.

Mi formación académica me prepara para trabajar en instituciones estatales, no para construir algo propio. Esto implica un doble esfuerzo, estudiar más y definir mis verdaderas fortalezas. Mis bases literarias, forjadas antes de la universidad, me dotaron de habilidades literarias y críticas. Sin embargo, en Cuba es muy difícil vivir de la literatura. Además el público lector disminuye y se vuelve más selectivo. La literatura debe adaptarse a la era de Internet y sus algoritmos, sin sacrificar calidad. Por eso, he estado aprendiendo fotografía y videoarte para perfeccionarme.
Por otro lado me atraen la investigación, las entrevistas y la crítica, propios de mi carrera y tan necesarios en estos tiempos donde poco a poco toda la memoria histórica de nuestra identidad de está disolviendo.

Es la creación y la investigación las dos bases principales en las que me muevo pero aún no he descubierto cómo hacer de esto un emprendimiento que me garantice llevar el plato a la mesa.

Estar aquí en #Ecency ha sido una forma de aliviar esta problemática, poder compartir y conocer otros puntos de vista. Toda base lleva tiempo en consolidarse, aquí en Ecency es fundamental hacer comunidad, el intercambio. Pero para nosotros los cubanos con los nuevos planes de Etecsa, que nos limita nuestro tiempo de navegación dificutan aún más la posibilidad de que este barco llego de contrapesos deje de navergar en círculos.
